Pete's a Pizza

In the AM and PM classes, we re-enacted the story, Pete’s a Pizza. Students acted out scenes from the story like the character, Pete: they laid down like a pizza, stretched out, had “oil” (water) splashed on them, had “cheese” (paper) sprinkled on them, and “baked” in the oven. Then they stood up and “ran” away from me until the sun came back out to play ball (like in the story). If you haven’t read this book before, check it out sometime! This was a great extension to the students making pizzas from this week.  Below are pictures from the PM class re-enacting the story.

Grocery Store Visit

Students took a mini field trip to Shaheen’s Grocery Store in town today, because we are turning our dramatic play center into a grocery store! Mark, the owner, showed us the dairy section, meat section, frozen foods section, and the fruits and vegetables. Then, students got to visit the pharmacy! She discussed how medicine sometimes look like candy, so it’s very important to not eat it to stay safe. Please visit your local grocery store and pharmacy if you can so students can tell you about their visit! J

Parachute Action!

Both AM and PM classes had fun at large group today with the parachute!  We counted, reviewed colors, and discussed opposites (i.e.: fast/slow) with the parachute.  Below are pictures Mrs. Young took of the PM class in action.  Enjoy!

Pumpkin Fun!

Students had fun with pumpkins today in preschool! In the AM class, students drew faces on the pumpkin and scooped out the seeds!  In the PM class, they had a blast decorating the pumpkin with markers, stickers, and dot paints!
