Today students had
the opportunity to draw and paint like Michelangelo! When Michelangelo painted
the Sistine Chapel, he worked 4 years and had to often paint upside down! Students
got to experience firsthand what it felt like to paint upside down just like the famous
Michelangelo!

Awesome Activities Focused on "The Arts"!
We have had some
exciting activities during our “arts” theme these past few weeks. Although we will be continuing next week with
a couple special activities, I wanted to share some pictures I’ve taken thus
far. First of all, we turned our dramatic play center into a radio station where students have been playing DJ! In addition, students have had a music lesson from Mrs. Leihsing, visited the high
school art classroom, made a painting with Ms. Majeski, Wes Weeber gave a
special musical lesson in the classroom using a variety of instruments, Mrs. White
played several instruments, and students visited the radio station to say the
Pledge and the PM class sang “Go Cubs Go”.
Throughout our arts unit, students have also been learning about some
famous artists and recreating artwork inspired by these artists. We have danced, painted, created, listened,
and sang throughout this fun theme. Learning about “the arts” has been an
exciting and interesting theme for the students! Be looking out for more pictures to come next week
too as we wrap up our arts theme!
