We have had
several children absent due to colds and flu during our first week of school. Although this is often unavoidable in
preschool, I want to remind families to practice safe techniques at home
that will help keep you and your child from getting sick. Here are a couple of practices our pre-k class uses:
1) Coughing and/or sneezing into your elbow.
This avoids germs from being spread onto hands and then onto other items.
2) Washing hands after blowing noses.
3) Washing hands after using the
restroom.
In fact, we have
practiced a hand-washing song that you can ask your child to sing and show you
next time he/she washes hands. Here are
the words so you can help sing along (actions are written next to the words):
Tops and
bottoms (rub hands together
on the top and the bottom)
Tops and
bottoms
In between, in
between (interlock fingers
to ensure scrubbing between fingers)
Rub them all
together (rub hands together
all over)
Rub them all
together
Wash them clean (now child can put hands under the water to
wash away the soap)
Wash them clean
Here’s to hoping
we can all stay healthy and happy! J
I can send some germ Glo if you would like to help make it fun for the kids. Just let me know. I will send it with Nizhoni.
ReplyDeleteWe could give it a try if you wouldn't mind sending it! Thanks! :)
