Making Pet Shelters

We have been studying pets since our visit to the veterinarian. Students have learned what animals need to survive, what kids of animals are pets, and what kind of shelters different pets need.  Today students made their own pet shelters! These pet shelters are displayed in the classroom, so please check them out if you get a chance.  The pictures below show students making the pet shelters, students’ drawings of pets, and students even making shelters out of sand. I’m very proud of them!

Rainbow and Pot of Gold Craft

On Friday, Mrs. Quick’s childcare class invited the PM class back to the high school for a St. Patrick’s Day craft.  The high schoolers were amazing as they helped paint the preschoolers’ hands to make a colorful rainbow leading up to their pot of gold. Thanks to Mrs. Quick and her class!    

Classroom Vet Clinic is Open!

Our classroom vet center is officially open for business! After our visit to the vet clinic in Prophetstown, students brainstormed ideas as to what they would like to have included in our classroom vet clinic based upon what they saw on our field trip.  I was so proud of their answers! The materials you see in the pictures were all ideas from the students!  Credit goes to them! J

Students were very engaged today as they played in the center where there is a waiting room, a reception area, and a surgical space.  In the classroom vet clinic, students did the following: 1) gave the pets a bath, 2) used equipment to check the sick pets (used a stethoscope, thermometer, etc.), 3) read magazines in the waiting room, 4) took money using the cash register, 5) fed the pets, 6) examined a real x-ray, and 7) dressed in veterinarian gear, like a white jacket, gloves, and masks. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as the students enjoyed their new center!
